Introduction to Mental Health First Aid with Tim Widdowson

£10.00

For just £10 this 1 hour replay hosted by the PSFA is essential viewing.

The PSFA is hosting this special Mental Health and Well-Being event for equestrian practitioners to help them take steps towards recognising when either they or someone they encounter is in need of some practical help for their psychological well-being.

Tim Widdowson from Corporate Wellbeing and Resilience (CWR) training introduced the group to mental health awareness. Tim teaches large companies how to recognise when a member of the workforce is in need of assistance on a first aid basis so that they can begin to recognise their current mental health state.

The session explores the meaning of mental health well-being and covers a series of questions that the individual can use to explore their feelings and emotions about their current well-being. It also covers nine aspects of what can affect mental well-being, such as general neglect, stress at work and caring for others. Moving on to mental health as an illness, such as mood, anxiety and eating disorders, signs and symptoms of those various disorders is explored. Finally, how to assist with someone who may be upset or how the individual may be able to boost their own coping mechanisms is explained.
